State of Hearthstone – Interview with Mike Donais and Peter Whalen http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/06/10/blizzard-on-the-state-of-hearthstone?abthid=575a67a741047d9d39000016 Big focus currently is Fireside Gatherings and social aspect of play. The Arena award system mentioned last week in China, is something that China is experimenting with specifically. HS Game director talked with China about it but it’s a China initiative. New feature coming to the game, called Game Mode ID. It shows an icon beside your name, similar to the rank emblems we see today. They are specific to each game mode; Arena, Tavern Brawl, Adventures and Casual will each get unique icons. Some have extra functionality. Arena icon shows your current win count and below the icon you can see how many losses you have. Tavern Brawl lets you mouseover it to view the rules of the current brawl. Adventure icon shows a custom icon based on the Adventure you are playing. Hearthstone Brazil posted a ‘fun picture’ on their Facebook feed about an Old Gods Travel Agency which included pictures of several exotic destinations, like Icecrown Citidel, The Dark Portal and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Could this be a hint to something coming in the future? posted a fun picture (UPDATE: Blizzard has officially stated that this is not a preview to the future content. It was created to promote Whispers of the Old Gods) WotOG: Rogue This past weekend we had he EU Spring Championships Final. There were 3 Miracle Rogue decks that were played at the tournament. They are all very similar with just a few differences. The final pitted Thijs’s and Iner’s rogue vs rogue for the championship. Thijs’ Miracle Rogue Backstab x 2 Preparation x 2 Cold Blood x 2 Conceal x 2 Deadly Poison x 2 Eviscerate x 2 Sap x 2 Edwin VanCleef x 1 Fan of Knives x 2 Shadow Strike x 1 SI:7 Agent x 2 Tomb Pillager x 2 Bloodmage Thalnos x 1 Earthen Ring Farseer x 1 Violet Teacher x 1 Azure Drake x 2 Leeroy Jenkins x 1 Gadgetzan Auctioneer x 2 Casie’s Miracle Rogue Backstab x 2 Preparation x 2 Cold Blood x 2 Conceal x 2 Deadly Poison x 1 Eviscerate x 2 Sap x 2 Shiv x 1 Edwin VanCleef x 1 Fan of Knives x 2 Shadow Strike x 1 SI:7 Agent x 2 Tomb Pillager x 2 Bloodmage Thalnos x 1 Earthen Ring Farseer x 1 Violet Teacher x 1 Azure Drake x 2 Leeroy Jenkins x 1 Gadgetzan Auctioneer x 2 Iner’s Miracle Rogue Backstab x 2 Preparation x 2 Cold Blood x 2 Conceal x 1 Deadly Poison x 1 Eviscerate x 2 Sap x 2 Shiv x 1 Edwin VanCleef x 1 Fan of Knives x 2 Shadow Strike x 1 SI:7 Agent x 2 Tomb Pillager x 2 Xaril, Poisoned Mind x 1 Bloodmage Thalnos x 1 Earthen Ring Farseer x 1 Violet Teacher x 1 Azure Drake x 2 Leeroy Jenkins x 1 Gadgetzan Auctioneer x 2 New Cards with WotOG ( Slide 135) Xaril, Poisoned Mind (4 mana – 3/2 minion, Battlecry and Deathrattle: Add a random Toxin card to your hand.) Bloodthistle Toxin – 1 mana – Return a friendly minion to your hand. It costs (2) less. Briarthorn Toxin – 1 mana – Give a minion +3 Attack. Fadeleaf Toxin – 1 mana – Give a friendly minion Stealth until your next turn. Firebloom Toxin – 1 mana – Deal 2 damage. Kingsblood Toxin – 1 mana – Draw a card. Hasn’t worked out too well so far. Lots of hope for it to work with the N’Zoth deck but it’s a bit slow for Miracle decks. Blade of C’Thun (9 mana, 4/4 minion – Battlecry: Destroy a minion. Add its Attack and Health to C’Thun’s (whereever it is). Combo with Brann Bronzebeard for x 2 buffs on C’Thun. Coin out early, then use Shadowstep or Shadowcaster for more value. Shadowcaster (5 mana, 4/4 minion – Battlecry: Choose a friendly minion. Add a 1/1 copy to your hand that costs (1). If you silence the 1/1 copy when it’s on the board, it returns to it’s original attack and health values but loses any copied effects. Combo with Brann Bronzebeard and Shadowstep to get 2 Branns. Thistle Tea (6 mana – Draw a card. Add 2 extra copies of it to your hand.) Many say that it’s one of the best cards in the game. However, it’s very RNG based. You can’t easily plan for what the next card will be. Undercity Huckster (2 mana, 2/2 minion – Deathrattle: Add a random class card to your hand (from your opponent’s class). Can be a game changer card IF it pulls something useful. But again, RNG based. Journey Below (1 mana, Discover a Deathrattle card). Great combo enabler card and many remark on how frequently they get cards like Sylvannas and Xaril, Poisoned Mind. Southsea Squidface (4 mana, 4/4 Pirate minion – Deathrattle: Give your weapon +2 Attack) You can copy the effect with Unearthed Raptor btw. It’s like free Deadly Poisons Someone commented the following is possible: Play Brann Raptor 1 copies 2 damage twice: 4 Raptor 2 copies 4 twice: 8 Raptor 3 (shadowstep 1st raptor) copies 8 twice: 16 Raptor 4 (shadowstep 2nd raptor) copies 16 twice: 32 Prep eviscerate the last raptor. Trade in the original pirate for added BM if possible. Adding in base attack of 1 and that, this would be a 35 attack weapon. Shadow Strike – (3 mana, Deal 5 damage to an undamaged character.) Combo with Malygos? Great card in general. Bladed Cultist (1 mana, 1/2 minion – Combo: Gain +1/+1) Coin -> Bladed Cultist -> Bladed Cultist = 2 x 2/3 Bladed Cultists on the board turn 1.
