Proverbs 2 tells us to seek wisdom and understanding as silver and search for it as hidden treasures. The Lord gives His wisdom and understanding to those who are attentive and incline their hearts towards Him. So often in my life I sought wisdom from the Lord in the same way the world pursues wisdom. To add it to my store house of knowledge as if to add to my library. But the Lord doesn't add His wisdom to our own wisdom, through our five senses. Rather, we must come to Him in humility and discard our thoughts and ways as sin, to receive His pure wisdom from above. Isaiah 55:6-13 Psalm 32:8-9 the Lord tells us that He will instruct us and teach us in the way which we should go.. (9) "Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding." The horse and mule must be guide through bit and bridle..in other words through pain they are guided to do the Master's will. Hebrews 12:6 tells us the Lord scourges every son whom He receives. This is good and right for God to do this, just as every good loving Dad does to his children. Proverbs 13:24 "He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines diligently." However, the Lord goal in our life is to give us His wisdom through understanding. Ephesians 1:15-18 speaks to us in this way. Giving us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.. (18) " that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of His calling To receive the wisdom from Christ with understanding, so as not to be guided through the pain of discipline, we must open our hearts to Him. To do so we must first learn to be quiet in His presence so we can listen to Him and get it. Psalm 131:2 "Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother." In this quiet rest we can hear the still gentle voice of the Holy Spirit guiding us into all truth. John16:13 James 1:19 tells us to be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. But have you seen the context of this instruction. Read it again. "This you know, my beloved brethren. If we can read this Word in the knowledge of His love for us, we will be able to experience it as it is written. For years I have tried to suppress my anger, bridle my tongue, and be a good listener. But the Lord is showing me it will come to me in the order he wrote it. Anger comes from my own will be crossed. Many words are often spoken when our will is crossed and we don't understand why. We can be like Job, who, not understanding why all his troubles were coming upon Him, spoke many words without knowledge. See his confession in Job 42:1-6 The vision the Lord has set upon me for this year is to experience the Lord as Mary did in Luke 10:42. Many times we can be busy, bothered, and worried Martha's working for the Lord in the kitchen of life. But the Lord said to her, "Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." To learn from Christ with understanding, we must come and sit at His feet as Mary did, in our hearts. This is where Matthew 11:28-30 becomes our reality in Christ.
