Wednesday, January 23 PATTERNS OF DEMOCRACY IN WESTERN CANADIAN CITIES
Who governs in Canada? Who should govern? Rarely have these questions been debated more passionately than in twentieth century Western Canadian cities. At the Calgary Institute for the Humanities Dr. Jack Lucas focused his research on two particular reforms relevant to discussions of Canadian democratic politics today. The first is electoral reform. The second is development of the franchise in Western Canadian Cities, that is, rules concerning who was and wan not allowed to vote.

CROWCHILD CLASSIC HOCKEY
The Crowchild Classic is an annual competition between the University of Calgary Dinos and the Mount Royal University Cougars in Canada West regular season games across the sports of basketball, hockey, soccer, and volleyball. Each year, the school that wins the most games in the series is awarded 'The Medal' - a 68-kilogram cast iron City of Calgary manhole cover.

Tuesday, January 29 DAN DUGUAY'S WHO KNOWS VARIETY SHOW
The WhoKnows Variety Show is hosted and produced by Dan Duguay. On (USUALLY) the last Tuesday of each month, Dan presents different Alberta artists, groups and a myriad of performers. Past shows have had music, magic, poetry, clowning, spinning plates, comedy & CAUTION TAPE! Dan's one-man band is always there and ready for action. It is a fast-paced show that is perfect for the YouTube generation. Everyone is welcome including teenagers and people who are easily distracted. The evening starts at 7:30pm and usually ends around 10pm. WhoKnows is the name of the show because you never know who you’ll see or what they’ll do. Tickets are $15 and will be added to your bill. Reservations are encouraged!
