Hey listeners, this is Andy, host of The UX Coach podcast but you already knew that, because you’re listening right now.
I never know why people introduce themselves and their shows - you literally clicked play on it to hear it.
Anyway, I wanted to drop this update to first of all say thank you to everyone who has subscribed, has been listening and especially a big thank you to everyone who has got in touch to tell us what you think, how it is helping you think about what you’re doing in your own careers or to understand what the landscape is like in different places around the world it has been amazing to hear.
We’re now past the halfway point and honestly I wasn’t expecting this at all. This whole thing started out with a question I had - What the hell is a mid-weight designer anyway. I wrote a post, dropped the question into a bunch of communities online like Designer Hangout, The Designership and ReOps and turns out a lot of other people had the same questions and feelings.
I decided with season one to focus on people who currently hold roles or job titles that have the term Senior, Head, Manager or Lead in them as a way of asking them to share how they got that title, what it means and what’s missing.
If you’ve listened to the episodes so far, you may have noticed the same things I have.
Design and Research are still varied, unstructured and broad career paths - especially when it comes to digital services.
I want to keep this conversation going if you’ll keep listening - and if you are one of the 1000 people who’ve subscribed - I especially want to talk to you and have you share your stories.
There’s just a few episodes left in this season, if you haven’t listened yet, this week we dropped the episode with Brad Orego. His career, his views on design and research leadership and relationships with his other profession which you’ll have to tune it to hear more about were amazing to explore.
I’m not really sure what to look at next, but I have certainly got a vibe that there’s a few disconnected parts of this puzzle that we can dig deeper into. If you have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions or just want to say hi, reach out on Twitter - theuxcoachpod or drop us a message at theuxcoach.com.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has taken part so far, put up with the technical learning curve, and been so open with sharing their experiences.
Until the next episode, like, subscribe and all the other things people say when they’re shilling their product and I’ll be back in a few weeks.
