Tuesday October 13th PBC on Fox Sports 1 Washington-Mansour ends in draw Unbeaten heavyweight battle between Gerald “El Gallo Negro” Washingon (16-0-1, 11 KOs) barely kept his “0” with a ten round draw against Amir “Hardcore” Mansour (22-1-1, 16 KOs) on Tuesday night at the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Washington. Washington won the early rounds but Mansour came on strong midway and seemed to pull it out. Scores were 97-93 Washington, 96-94 Mansour, 95-95. 2012 U.S. Olympian cruiserweight Michael Hunter (10-0, 7 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over Jason Douglas (11-6, 4 KOs). Hunter dropped Douglas in round two. Douglas rocked Hunter in round three, but he rallied to knock down Douglas again. Douglas was on the deck twice more in round four. The bout was halted after the round. Hunter is the son of former heavyweight contender Mike “The Bounty” Hunter. Wednesday October 14th PBC on ESPN Selby outpoints Montiel; Martinez upsets Alexander Photos: Lucas Noonan/PBC IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby (22-1, 8 KOs) cruised to an uneventful twelve round unanimous decision over 36-year-old former three-division titleholder Fernando Montiel (54-5-2, 39 KOs) on Wednesday night at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Selby outworked and outboxed the much smaller Montiel, who had previously won titles at flyweight, super flyweight and bantamweight. Montiel’s best moment was in round six when he cut Selby ver the right eye. Scores were 119-109, 118-110, 116-112. In an upset, unheralded welterweight Aron Martinez (20-4-1, 4 KOs) scored a shocking ten round unanimous decision over former world champion Devon Alexander (26-4, 14 KOs). Alexander seemed to be in command early, but then let Martinez back in it. Scores were 96-94, 97-93, 97-93. Lightweight Ivan Redkach (19-1, 14 KOs) scored a third round KO over Erick Martinez (11-4-1, 5 KOs). Redkach, rebounding from his first loss, battered Martinez to the canvas for the count at 2:59. Friday October 16th PBC on Spike TV In a war, WBA super flyweight champion Kohei Kono (31-8-1, 13 KOs) retained his title by unanimous twelve round decision and repelled the attempt of Koki Kameda (33-2, 18 KOs) to became the first Japanese fighter to win a world title in four weight divisions on Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois. Kono dropped Kameda in round two. Then Kameda was deducted twice for low blows in round three. Referee Celestino Ruiz stopped the action in round seven and threatened to disqualify the next fighter to commit a foul. He was told not to stop the fight by an official after the round. Both fighters headhunted after that. Kong was deducted a point in round nine for pushing down Kameda’s head. In the end, Kono won by scores of 115-107, 116-108, 113-111. In a light heavyweight slugfest, WBA #2, WBC #5, IBF #5, WBO #5 rated Andrzej Fonfara (28-3, 16 KOs) hammered out a twelve round unanimous decision over former WBO champion Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15 KOs). It was a competitive fight throughout. Cleverly fought the late rounds with a broken nose. Scores were 115-113, 116-112, 116-112. Fonfara is now 14-0 at the UIC Pavilion.
