Crawford TKOs Jean in ten By Bill Green at ringside (Fightnews.com) Unbeaten WBO jr welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) set up a possible April showdown with Manny Pacquiao with an impressive tenth round TKO over Dierry Jean (29-2, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Jean had no answer after Crawford switched to a southpaw stance in round one. Crawford dropped Jean in rounds one, nine and ten. Referee Tony Weeks waved it off after the third knockdown. Time was 2:30. Unbeaten heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr (26-0, 17 KOs) pummeled Raphael Zumbano (37-12-1, 30 KOs) for all eight rounds. Scores were 80-72, 80-72, 80-70. Welterweight contender Mikael Zewski (27-1, 21 KOs) dominated every minute of the fight until finally knocking out Ayi Bruce (23-12, 9 KOs) at 1:41 of round five. It was Zewski’s first bout since dropping a ten round unanimous decision to Konstantin Ponomarev in May. Former IBF featherweight champion Evgeny “The Russian Mexican” Gradovich (20-1-1, 9 KOs) won a split decision against Aldimar Silva (19-9, 10 KOs) in an eight rounder. Making his first start since losing his world title against Lee Selby in May, Gradovich seemed a clear winner. One judges scored it 77-75 for Silva, overruled by the other judges’ 79-71 and 78-74 cards. Unbeaten super lightweight Julian “Hammer Hands” Rodriguez (11-0, 9 KOs) hammered out a four round unanimous decision against Alvaro Ortiz (7-5-1, 5 KOs) in a bout cur from six rounds to four. Scores were 40-36, 40-36, 39-37. Unbeaten welterweight Alex “El Cholo” Saucedo (19-0, 13 KOs) scored a one-sided six round unanimous decision over Angel Martinez (12-8-1, 8 KOs). Saucedo dropped Martinez in both rounds five and six en route to a 60-52, 60-52, 60-54 win. Unbeaten super lightweight Alfredo Martinez (5-0, 2 KOs) scored a four round unanimous decision over Darin Hampton (1-2). Hampton took a knee twice in round two and again in round four. Scores were 40-33, 40-34, 40-34. Zolt Daranyi won a TXO over Shawn Wilson after Referee Drake Kirk stopped the fight after a barrage of unanswered punches by Daranyi over Wilson. Fight ends 1;55 of the second round.
