Today on The Sharp Gentleman I have something a little different to share with all of you.
You guys know I am all about delivering value, and along the way, sharing the struggles, triumphs, and adventures in learning. I love pushing you all forward with hard truths and ways to stay motivated to actually achieve what you set out to.
If you’re thinking of ways to make this your best year ever, how about following a big dream that you’ve always been a little afraid of? Something that challenges you to carve out time, create a plan, and then, maybe against all odds, actually follow through… You don’t have to do it alone, I have a little inspiration for you that comes each week in a brand new podcast called Launch.
Statistics say that three out of five people dream of writing a book one day. But few actually follow through. I have probably 5 books I’ve written–– well, half written. Okay, fine, a third written, scattered across multiple hard drives in this office. I know writing a book is a big bucket list item for me, but I am always battling the follow-through.
Screenwriter John August was also one of them. He’d been successful with films like Charlie’s Angels, Big Fish, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but he had this nagging feeling he needed to write something different.
Launch is about making things, and about putting something out into the world and having no idea what will happen next. Launch is written and hosted by John August and I’ve got a special preview for you today. The story of how he wrote his book, how books get made, and why chasing these big dreams is so hard is the subject of his new podcast.
It’s called Launch for a reason, right?
You can subscribe to Launch on iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever you’re listening to this right now - all you gotta do is search.
Here’s a preview of the show! Be a sharp gentleman and share it with your friends.
