A long stretch of New York’s Mohawk River became a canal in the early 1900s. Bridge dams made that possible and are still in use today. Michael Riley is author of the book “Bridge Dams on the Mohawk: David A. Watt’s Marvelous Creation.” Riley is the guest on this week’s Historians Podcast.
This summer the Amsterdam Free Library is offering Architectural and Historic tours of the 1903 Carnegie Library building at 28 Church Street in downtown Amsterdam. Tours will be Friday June 28, July 12,19,26; August 2, 9, 16, 23 and Monday August 19, 2019 from 9 - 10 am. The tours can accommodate people in wheel chairs.
