Noir Music is pleased to give not only a label debut, but also a music debut, to a producer you are going to be hearing a lot more from as 2012 draws to a close. His introductory release 'Wait' featured on the latest edition of 'Second Chances & New Romances' EP and instantly entered the Beatport deep house chart. For the latest edition of the Noir Music Podcast, please allow us to introduce you to UK based DJ, producer and remixer - Bluford Duck. Heres a few questions we asked Bluford Duck - Listen and learn more... Bluford Duck, welcome to Noir Music! We are excited to hear what you're podcast has in store for us. Let's cut to the chase, and tell us in one short sentance 'who is Bluford Duck'? - Forward thinking, backward glancing, excitable and mischievous...all in equal measure. In five words, what does Bluford Duck stand for? - House music all night long! What is your musical background? - I was brought up on 80's synth pop, prog rock, Italo disco and early US house & garage. I got into the rave scene in the 90's and spent much of my youth working in specialist record shops. Your debut track 'Wait' has been getting huge attention since its release, tell us a bit about the track? - I've been working on the Bluford Duck sound for a while, trying to fine tune exactly what it is I wanted to make. 'Wait' is the kind of house music I LOVE to play in the club which is, in turn, the ethos of whole project. It's my years of clubbing and lost dancefloor moments condensed into simple, house music. What is it that inspires you most, musically or otherwise? - It can literally be anything, I can hear an old disco track and hear a great loop or be on the tube and get an idea for a bassline from someone's noisy iPod. How did you approach your podcast? Is this a reflection of what to expect from Bluford Duck in the club? - It's very much what you'd likely expect to hear from me in the club. I like to play a balance of old stuff from my vinyl collection, über fresh stuff i get sent and stuff people know and love. Any particular tracks you’d like to highlight that were included in the mix? - I absolutely love Karmon and Hot Since '82 at the moment. They both make the best kind of uncluttered, beautifully simple house music that shakes my bones. With you being so new to the scene, people may not have had the chance to see you play as yet. Just so we can prepare for it - what is your best DJ dance move? - You name it, it's in the arsenal! I don't trust DJ's who don't dance, if I'm not shimmying it ain't happening! There are lots of new producers breaking through at the moment, and having had the chance to get your music out there, what advice would you give to young producers who are looking to get out there? - Wait until you absolutely, positively, without doubt know your music's on par with the best. There's so many people trying to make their mark on the scene at the moment that you only really get one chance to make your mark, you need to make it count from day one. Finally, we have to give you the chance to plug what you have coming up - that's what interviews are for, right?! What can we look forward to from Bluford Duck? - More of the same! I'm working on a lot of new music along the same lines including a bunch of new tracks that I hope will find their way onto Noir's future releases. I've got a track called 'Eye See' coming on vinyl on Savoire Faire on the 29th of October. I've also signed with The Underground DJ agency who look after a bunch of my favourite artists so I'm looking forward to taking to the road and playing some records!
