One of the biggest questions that I, and I’m sure many others, get asked is how/where to start.  The answer can either be very simple or very complicated, depending on what it is you are looking to do. My personal experience taught me that there was no need to jump right into the big investment of a cooker or smoker.  My fear was that if I really didn’t like where it was going or it just wasn’t for me, I didn’t want to have to worry about having an expensive piece of equipment doing nothing more than taking up space on the patio. A little research tells of some very simple ways to go about finding what direction is going to suit your needs for very little cost.  This episode explores some of those ways that can give you a good starting point from which to take the plunge.  I discovered that there should be some consideration given to the simple things first, i.e., what fuels and spices are you going to want to be using and are they going to compliment each other, etc. It is unneccesary to think that just because someone else has a huge rig in their possession that it is imperative to start the same way.  Many things can be learned by staying with the K.I.S.S., (Keep It Simple Stupid), principal at first then, using what you learned through trial and error, figure out what will suit you best and move up from there.
